European Maritime Culture Festival "Maritime Roots" is the result of joint actions of Polish and Norwegian  non-governmental organizations.

The festival will be held alternatively Gdansk (Poland) and Risor (Norway). The Festival is organized by the Sailing-Shanties Association "Gejtawy", Risor Trebaatfestival, Maritime and Colonial League, Langesund Mandssangforegin, Foundation Kystkulturuka i Tvedestrand Kilsvingen and the Green Artists Association. Its aim is to present Polish, Norwegian and European maritime culture. During the first edition of the festival, concerts will be held in the Main City in Gdańsk and on the Green Bridge, results of art and photography competitions will be announced, documentaries displays and the special concert in the Main Town Hall dedicated to the memory of Johnny Collins will take place.
